Why engagement matters
Facebook's algorithm loves posts with comments. The more people react and comment, the more people the post gets shown to. So engagement isn't just a "vanity metric" — it's the growth engine of your post.
The 12 tips
1. Ask a question at the end of the post
An open question at the end invites comments. Instead of "Enjoy!" — try "What do you think? Tell me in the comments."
2. Open with a strong hook
The first 3 seconds decide whether someone keeps reading. Open with a compelling line — not "Hey everyone."
3. Use emojis
Posts with 3-5 emojis get 25% more engagement. But don't overdo it — 10 emojis looks like spam.
4. Always add an image
Posts with an image get 2.3x the engagement of posts without one. Even a stock photo beats nothing.
5. Post during active hours
Between 9-10 AM and 8-10 PM is the sweet spot. Not midday (2 PM).
6. Use short paragraphs
A paragraph should be 1-2 lines. A post that looks like a wall of text won't get read by anyone.
7. Add a cliffhanger
"And then something I never expected happened..." keeps people reading.
8. Reply to comments fast
If someone commented — reply within the hour. It bumps the post back to the top of the Group feed.
9. Use a personal story
People connect with stories, not facts. Instead of "We provide service X" — try "Last month a customer called me and said...".
10. Give value before you ask
Give away a free tip, trial, or useful info first. Then you can ask for something.
11. Use a list
Lists (5 tips, 10 steps, 3 mistakes) get high engagement because they're scannable and structured.
12. Add a touch of controversy
"Most people think X — but the truth is Y." A contrarian take invites debate — and debate is engagement.
